Tesla Mexico Gigafactory construction to commence shortly
【Summary】Construction of the Tesla Gigafactory in Mexico is set to begin soon, according to the Governor of Nuevo León. The progress on the factory's construction is positive news for Tesla, especially after concerns were raised about potential delays. The Governor estimates that the factory and its suppliers could generate $15 billion in investment within two years of operations.
Earlier this week, Governor Samuel Garcia Sepulveda of Nuevo León met with Tesla executives overseeing the buildout of Gigafactory Mexico. The Governor recently shared updates on the progress of Tesla Giga Mexico through Instagram, stating that access and mobility works for the factory will begin soon.
In his Instagram post, Gov. Sepulveda expressed his excitement for Tesla's presence in Mexico, mentioning that Tesla executives will have direct flights from their gigafactories in Austin and San Francisco to Mexico. He also mentioned that he is about to receive the start-up of the Gigafactory from Tesla. The Governor emphasized that they are starting with water treatment, train and highway access, and other necessary adaptations for the plant.
The construction progress of Giga Mexico is crucial for Tesla, especially considering recent reports that suggested the start of production at the factory might be delayed due to the country's permitting process. However, Gov. Sepulveda's recent updates indicate that Tesla's plans for Giga Mexico are on track.
On Monday, the Governor welcomed Tesla executives, including Market Director in Mexico Eugenio Grandio de la Torre, Director of Business Rohan Patel, and Logistics Manager of Tesla Daniel Calvo, into his home. The Secretary of Economy Ivan Rivas and Undersecretary of Investment Emmanuel Loo also met with the Tesla executives at the Governor's house.
According to the Governor, Tesla and its suppliers for Gigafactory Mexico could generate $15 billion in investment within two years of operations. He highlighted the significance of this investment, stating that it is an enormous amount in a very short term.
