Tesla is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its first Supercharger station in Europe by offering free charging for all electric vehicles today. This initiative allows EV owners, not just those with Teslas, to charge their cars for free on August 29th from 8am until the end of the day. However, the latest owners can plug in their cars until 10.59pm.

The first Supercharger station in Europe was opened in Norway on August 29th, 2013. Over the past decade, the Supercharger network has expanded to 36 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with over a thousand sites and 13,000 individual Superchargers. Tesla claims that this network is the largest ultra-fast charging network in Europe, with more than 9,200 Superchargers and 660 stations that accept all EVs.

This one-day-only free charging initiative is part of Tesla's 'electric summer' celebrations and a way to show appreciation to the Tesla community for contributing to the growth of the Supercharger network. Tesla describes it as a great opportunity for all EV drivers to test the network and expand their charging options. More than 70% of the network is now open to all EVs.

Recently, Tesla launched its latest V4 Supercharger in the UK, which is designed for all electric vehicles with CCS compatibility. The first V4 Supercharger is located at the Tesla Centre Tottenham and features a three-meter charging cable and a contactless card payment terminal. These V4 Superchargers have been specifically designed to allow non-Tesla owners to experience the reliability and fast charging speeds of the Tesla Supercharger network.

James Court, CEO of the Electric Vehicles Association, expressed excitement about the rollout of the new V4 Superchargers and the opening up of existing sites to all electric vehicles in the UK. He believes that this expansion will greatly benefit all EV drivers due to the widespread coverage and reliability of the Supercharger network.

Decarbonisation Minister Jesse Norman praised Tesla's investment in EV charging and infrastructure, stating that it will benefit all EV drivers. The UK government is also taking steps to make owning an electric vehicle easier, including introducing new regulations to improve the ease of charging. However, private investment, like Tesla's, will ultimately make the difference in accelerating the transition to a green economy.
