Tesla's unconventional Cybertruck camouflage fails to deceive
【Summary】Tesla's upcoming Cybertruck has been spotted in the wild, attempting to disguise itself as a Ford F-150 and a Toyota Tundra. However, the attempts are not fooling anyone, as the Cybertruck's unique design stands out. Speculations suggest that Tesla may be testing wraps for the market or trying to keep the vehicle unnoticed until its official launch. Another possibility is that it's a joke by CEO Elon Musk to troll rival pick-up designs.
Tesla is set to release its highly anticipated Cybertruck electric pickup in September. However, despite efforts to keep it under wraps, the futuristic vehicle has already been spotted in public.
Earlier this month, a broken-down Cybertruck was seen poorly disguised as a Ford F-150. Now, the Cybertruck has been caught trying to pass as a Toyota Tundra. This has left many wondering what Tesla is trying to achieve with these disguises.
In previous sightings, the Cybertruck was seen covered in camouflage wrap. But it seems that Tesla has realized military camouflage is not the most effective disguise in an urban setting. Instead, they have resorted to disguising the pickup as other popular vehicles, although no one is fooled.
The first sighting showed a broken-down Cybertruck masquerading as an F-150, and now videos have emerged of the vehicle impersonating a Toyota Tundra, one of the best-selling pickups in the US.
There are various speculations as to the purpose of these disguises. Some believe Tesla is attempting to keep the Cybertruck unnoticed until its official launch. However, the wraps do little to hide the truck's unique and unconventional design.
Another possibility is that Tesla is testing different wraps with the intention of offering them as customization options for customers. The Cybertruck will only be available with its original stainless steel finish, so a wrap would be the only way to personalize it. While third-party wraps are expected to be available, Tesla may also be considering offering its own.
Alternatively, this could simply be a playful joke by Tesla to taunt its rivals, which aligns with Elon Musk's sense of humor. Musk has criticized other pickup designs as "boring" and has stated that the lack of imagination in the industry inspired him to create the Cybertruck. Wrapping the Cybertruck to resemble other vehicles could be a way of suggesting that its competitors are so ordinary and unremarkable that they go unnoticed.
