UK's popular used car models

Ford Motor Co.'s F-150 Lightning, like other electric vehicles being developed in Detroit, has received praise for its contribution to addressing climate change. However, it requires more energy to recharge compared to smaller vehicles. This highlights the ongoing efforts in the automotive industry to combat environmental issues.

In the United Kingdom, the Kia Sportage has emerged as the most searched used car, with over 33,970 searches on Google per year. This South Korean SUV's high demand is evident, as it tops the list ahead of other popular models such as the Nissan Qashqai and Ford Fiesta.

The assessment to determine the most popular used car models in the UK focused on 29 well-known car brands. The research considered the top five most searched-for models for each brand, resulting in a total of 145 car models. Yearly Google search data for each model was collected and ranked to identify the most sought-after used cars.

Among the car brands, Ford emerged as the most searched-for brand, followed by Audi and BMW. This finding was based on a review conducted by car finance refund firm Undisclosed.co.uk, which analyzed the number of yearly searches for 145 used car models across 29 brands.

The Kia Sportage, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, was not only the most Googled used car overall but also the most searched-for in 38 out of 58 UK cities. This includes major cities like Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool, indicating its popularity across the country.

The Nissan Qashqai secured the second spot, with approximately 29,230 searches for 'used Nissan Qashqai' each year. This Japanese car was particularly popular in eight cities, including Leicester, Newcastle, and Portsmouth. Its appeal is further enhanced by the inclusion of Nissan's e-POWER technology, which appeals to environmentally conscious individuals.

Coming in third place is the Ford Fiesta, recording around 28,380 searches each year for the term "used Ford Fiesta." Despite the model's production ceasing in July of this year, after 47 years and eight generations, it remains a popular choice in the used car market due to its reputation for reliability.

The BMW 1 Series secured the fourth spot, with approximately 23,640 yearly searches. This German car model, part of the BMW group, is a popular choice in cities like Derby, Southampton, and Manchester.

In fifth place is the Audi A1, with around 22,870 yearly searches dedicated to "used Audi A1." The German car company's reputation for quality, combined with the A1's compact yet premium appeal, has made it a favorite among UK drivers.

The Volvo XC40 takes the sixth spot, with approximately 21,610 searches each year. This reflects the Swedish car company's ability to create a desirable compact SUV.

Seventh place goes to the Ford Focus, which receives around 21,110 yearly searches. The Audi A3 secures the eighth spot, with approximately 20,630 searches per year, and the VW Golf rounds out the top ten with 19,490 yearly searches.

Finally, the Volvo XC90 captures the tenth spot, drawing in 17,920 searches for "used Volvo XC90" each year. This large SUV model from the Swedish car company continues to attract the interest of many used car searchers in the UK.
