Ford Motor Co.'s F-150 Lightning is receiving praise as an electric vehicle that addresses climate change, despite requiring more energy to recharge than smaller vehicles. This development is part of Detroit's efforts to create more sustainable transportation options.

In the U.K., the Kia Sportage has emerged as the most searched used car, with over 33,970 annual Google searches. This South Korean SUV's popularity highlights the high demand for this model among car buyers.

A comprehensive assessment was conducted to determine the most popular used car models in the U.K. The study focused on 29 well-known car brands and analyzed the top five most searched-for models for each brand, resulting in a total of 145 car models. Yearly Google search data for each model was collected and ranked.

According to the review conducted by car finance refund firm Undisclosed.co.uk, Ford is the most searched-for car brand in the U.K. Audi and BMW follow closely behind. This analysis evaluated the number of yearly searches for 145 used car models across 29 brands, revealing Ford's dominance in online searches.

The Kia Sportage, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, emerged as the most Googled used car in 38 out of 58 U.K. cities analyzed. This includes major cities like Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool, showcasing the widespread popularity of this model.

Coming in second place is the Nissan Qashqai, with 29,230 annual searches for 'used Nissan Qashqai' across the U.K. This Japanese car is particularly sought after in eight cities, including Leicester, Newcastle, and Portsmouth. The latest Qashqai model in Europe features Nissan's e-POWER technology, appealing to environmentally conscious buyers.

The Ford Fiesta takes the third spot, with approximately 28,380 searches each year for 'used Ford Fiesta.' Despite production of this model ceasing in July after 47 years and eight generations, it remains a popular choice in the used car market due to its reputation for reliability.

As of Q4 2022, the Ford Fiesta was the most registered car on U.K. roads, according to data from the U.K. government. The BMW 1 Series secures the fourth spot, drawing in around 23,640 yearly searches. This German car model, part of the BMW group, is also featured in the top five used car searches for Derby, Southampton, and Manchester.

The Audi A1 takes fifth place, with approximately 22,870 annual searches for 'used Audi A1.' The German car company's reputation for quality, combined with the A1's compact yet premium appeal, has made it a favorite among U.K. drivers.

In sixth place is the Volvo XC40, with approximately 21,610 searches each year. This highlights the Swedish car company's ability to create a desirable compact SUV.

The Ford Focus secures seventh place, with 21,110 yearly searches. The Audi A3 takes the eighth spot, attracting approximately 20,630 searches per year, while the VW Golf ranks ninth with 19,490 searches annually.

Rounding out the top ten most searched-for used cars is the Volvo XC90, with 17,920 searches for 'used Volvo XC90' each year. This large SUV model from the Swedish car company continues to capture the interest of many used car searchers in the U.K.
