Used car prices rise, shock model tops list

In recent times, there has been a constant stream of news articles discussing the decline in prices of used electric vehicles (EVs) and which models are experiencing the greatest decrease in value. Notably, popular models such as the Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron, and Jaguar I-Pace have all seen significant drops in value over the past year. However, the situation is quite different for traditionally-powered used cars.

According to Auto Trader's latest Retail Price Index, used car retail prices have been steadily increasing for 41 consecutive months. This indicates a positive trend in the value of used cars in general. Using the same data, we can now identify which specific used cars have experienced the most significant value appreciation this month.

Based on the figures from the month ending August 20, the Peugeot Partner Teepee stands out as the used car with the highest increase in value, with a year-on-year rise of 17.1%. The list of top-performing used cars is primarily composed of small, affordable models like the Fiat Panda, Volkswagen Beetle, and Hyundai i30.

Other notable entries in the top 10 include the Volkswagen up!, Citroen Berlingo, and Hyundai i10. The Mercedes SL Class is the only premium brand model to make the list.
