Used car prices soar with surprising model leading the pack

In recent times, there has been a lot of news about the declining prices of used electric vehicles (EVs) and which models are losing the most value. The Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron, and Jaguar I-Pace have all experienced significant drops in value over the past year. However, when it comes to traditionally-powered used cars, the situation is completely different.

According to Auto Trader's latest Retail Price Index, used car retail prices have been steadily rising for 41 consecutive months. This indicates a strong demand for pre-owned cars in the market. So, which models have seen the biggest price increases?

Using the same data, we can now reveal the used cars that have experienced the highest value growth this month. Looking at the cars sold in the month ending August 20, the Peugeot Partner Teepee takes the top spot with a year-on-year rise of 17.1%. This shows a significant increase in demand for this particular model.

The list of cars with the biggest value hikes is mostly dominated by small, affordable cars. The Fiat Panda, Volkswagen Beetle, and Hyundai i30 are among the top 10 models that have experienced substantial price growth. Other notable entries include the Volkswagen up!, Citroen Berlingo, and Hyundai i10. The only premium brand to make it onto the list is the Mercedes SL Class.
