2025 Mini Countryman: 3 Important Updates

The third-generation Mini Countryman has undergone several significant changes. It now offers two fully electric variants, namely the Countryman E and Countryman SE, each with different power and torque specifications. The new Countryman has a larger body, resulting in a roomier interior with increased shoulder room and a slightly bigger trunk. The interior design has also been upgraded to a more upmarket and minimalistic style.

In terms of features, the Countryman now offers advanced Level 2 driver assistance systems and improved automatic parking. It also boasts enhanced mood lighting and the option for adaptive dampers, which provide a more controlled ride. These changes aim to improve the overall driving experience and comfort for the passengers.

Mini has made significant changes to the exterior design of the Countryman crossover for its third generation. The manufacturer has given it a radical makeover, making it more visually appealing. Additionally, Mini has introduced fully electric powertrain options for the first time, catering to the growing demand for electric vehicles. The interior has also been upgraded to be more premium and spacious than before.

The all-new Mini Countryman, set to enter production in November 2023 and go on sale in 2024, shares its mechanical components with the BMW X1. Despite the similarities in specifications, the Countryman targets buyers with different aesthetic preferences. This strategic positioning allows Mini to appeal to a wider range of customers.

Let's delve into the specific changes made to this third-generation Mini Countryman and how they contribute to enhancing the vehicle's overall performance and appeal.

One of the major updates is the introduction of two fully electric variants: the Countryman E and Countryman SE. This marks the first time the Countryman is offered with electric powertrains. The Countryman E features a single electric motor driving the front wheels, producing 201 horsepower and 184.4 pound-feet of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 8.6 seconds. On the other hand, the dual-motor SE model delivers 308 horsepower and 364.4 pound-feet of torque, resulting in quicker acceleration. Both models are equipped with a 64.7 kWh battery pack, providing a WLTP range of 287 miles for the front-wheel drive model and 269 miles for the all-wheel drive model.

In terms of size, the new Countryman has grown in all dimensions compared to its predecessor. It is 5 inches longer, 2.4 inches taller, and slightly wider. This increase in size allows for a more spacious interior, with 1.2 inches more shoulder room in the front and 1 inch more in the rear. The trunk has also been slightly enlarged, and the vehicle offers a sliding rear bench for flexible cargo or legroom configurations. The interior design has been revamped to exude a more upmarket feel, featuring a single 9.4-inch circular screen at the center of the dashboard.

The Countryman now comes equipped with advanced Level 2 driver assistance systems, allowing for autonomous lane changes and hands-free driving on certain roads at speeds up to 37 mph. The automatic parking system has also been improved. The mood lighting, a signature feature of Mini interiors, has been taken to new heights in the Countryman. Additionally, buyers have the option to equip the car with frequency-selective adaptive dampers for a more controlled ride.

With the introduction of the third-generation Mini Countryman, Mini faces tough competition in the fully electric crossover segment. The larger size and repositioning of the Countryman will likely result in a higher price point. Furthermore, the electric Countryman SE will compete directly with the Tesla Model Y, a formidable rival in the automotive industry. However, with its significant updates and improvements, Mini aims to make the Countryman a standout choice for buyers seeking a stylish and capable electric crossover.
