BMW M4 'CS' model added in 2024

BMW has announced plans to introduce a new variant called the M4 CS, which will fill the gap between the standard M4 and the high-performance CSL models. This new model will build on the upgrades made to the M3 CS saloon earlier this year.

The M4 CS will be powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six engine, but with a power increase to 542bhp. This boost in power comes from modifications to the turbocharger and ECU. The car will also feature an eight-speed automatic transmission and BMW's xDrive four-wheel drive system. With these enhancements, the M4 CS is expected to achieve a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 188mph.

Inside the cabin, the M4 CS will receive some updates, including the removal of the central storage compartment. It will also feature carbon bucket seats and Alcantara trim. There is speculation about whether the rear bench will be replaced with more aggressive bucket seats, similar to the current M5 CS.

The exterior design of the M4 CS will showcase its aggressive nature. It will come with a carbon-fibre front splitter, rear diffuser, bonnet, and roof. The car is expected to offer a choice between the standard M Compound brakes or the optional M Carbon ceramics, along with Pirelli P Zero Corsa performance tires.

Pricing for the M4 CS has not been confirmed yet, but it is anticipated to be around £100,000. This estimate is based on the prices of the M4 Competition (£80,050) and the CSL (£128,820).

In addition to the M4 CS, BMW's CEO Frank van Meel has revealed that the company's future plans include a mid-cycle refresh for the M3 saloon and M4 coupe. They are also set to launch the next-generation hybrid M5 saloon and touring models.
