Citroen e-C3 Electric Vehicle Unveiling Date

Citroen is set to release the new e-C3, which is being hailed as a breakthrough in the market. According to CEO Thierry Koskas, the e-C3 will offer three main attributes that no other car at launch will have: it will be made in Europe, it will be a proper car with all the expected features, and it will be priced under 25,000 euros.

The e-C3 is scheduled to be available at the beginning of 2024. It will utilize a cost-focused platform and a 'fair deal' pricing structure to reduce haggling. Koskas stated that the starting price is expected to be under 25,000 euros, making it significantly cheaper than the Vauxhall Corsa Electric and even some petrol-powered Corsa models.

Citroen also shared a teaser video that showcases the design of the e-C3. The video reveals a bold head- and tail-light design reminiscent of the Citroen Oli concept.

The new e-C3 will be unveiled on October 17th at noon. Koskas revealed that it will have a range of over 300km (186 miles) and will be around four meters in length, similar to the existing C3. The car will be based on Stellantis's 'Smart Platform', which is a cost-focused evolution of existing architectures used in India and South America.

No specifics about the battery capacity or performance have been disclosed. However, Koskas confirmed that the e-C3 will be manufactured at Stellantis's factory in Trnava, Slovakia, alongside Peugeot's 208. It remains uncertain if a combustion-engined version will be offered alongside the electric model.

Citroen aims to compete with Chinese manufacturers that are introducing cheaper EVs in Europe. Koskas acknowledged the challenge but emphasized the brand's ability to be on the offensive by highlighting its long history and extensive sales network. Citroen's goal is to increase its share of the European market to five percent and have 30 percent of its global sales outside of Europe.

The e-C3 is expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2024. Additionally, a larger follow-up to the existing C3 Aircross baby SUV is planned for release next year to address the demand for a bigger car.
