Compact Electric SUV Confirmed by Cadillac for 2025
【Summary】Cadillac is developing a new compact electric SUV called the Optiq, set to be released in 2025. The Optiq will join Cadillac's lineup below the Lyriq and Escalade IQ, featuring a muscular design with vertical LED running lights. It is expected to have a range of around 300 miles and fast-charging capabilities. Pricing and specific release date details have not been revealed, but it is anticipated to start in the low to mid-$50,000 range.
GM's investments in electrification are paying off for Cadillac, as the automaker has announced another new electric vehicle (EV) coming in 2025. The upcoming model, called the Optiq, will be a compact electric SUV and will join Cadillac's lineup below the Lyriq and flagship Escalade IQ.
Although Cadillac has not revealed many details about the Optiq, they have shared an image of the EV. The Optiq features the brand's signature vertical LED running lights and a muscular shape that resembles the larger Lyriq. The C- and D-pillars have a blacked-out style, giving the roof a floating appearance.
Thanks to General Motors' Ultium tech, Cadillac and other GM brands have been able to create a wide range of EVs. The Optiq seems to be similar in size and shape to the recently released Equinox EV. It shares the same underlying technologies as the Lyriq, Escalade IQ, and ultra-luxury Celestiq EVs. It is expected to have a range estimate of around 300 miles and will also feature fast-charging capabilities.
While Cadillac has not provided specific pricing or release date information for the Optiq, they have mentioned that it will serve as a new entry point to the brand's electric vehicle lineup. Considering that the base Lyriq Tech trim starts at just under $59,000, it is reasonable to expect the Optiq to start in the low to mid-$50,000 range.
