Be.EV, a charge point operator, has announced plans to create thousands of new electric vehicle (EV) charge points in the UK. The company is looking for dwell sites such as retail parks, pubs, and car parks, as well as freehold and leasehold sites in major cities in the Midlands.

With £110 million backing from Octopus Energy Generation, Be.EV aims to accelerate the UK's EV revolution and improve communities by installing reliable chargers across the country. To help source new sites in the Midlands, the company has appointed leading commercial property agent FHP.

FHP director Doug Tweedie stated that they are considering various city center and community locations to improve access to charging facilities for local people. The new EV charging sites will primarily be focused on retail parks, pubs, and new forecourts, and will be powered by renewable energy from Octopus Energy.

Tweedie highlighted the importance of the charging experience, stating that mass EV uptake depends on the availability of reliable and accessible locations. He expressed excitement about working with Be.EV to expand the community-centered public EV charging network in the Midlands and give more people confidence to go electric.

Be.EV is currently in discussions with commercial landlords and private landowners, some of whom were not previously aware that their sites could be redeveloped for EV charging purposes. The company aims to fully fund, manage, and provide access to power for each development, relieving the landowners of significant burdens.

Asif Ghafoor, CEO and co-founder of Be.EV, expressed delight in working with FHP to bring charging infrastructure to cities across the Midlands. He emphasized the value of providing reliable, high-quality charging facilities in accessible and convenient locations, and the opportunity for property owners to increase footfall and create new income streams while contributing to the reduction of air pollution.

Be.EV and FHP are looking forward to starting their collaboration and working together on future projects.
