Fastest Nürburgring Lap Times 2021

The Rimac Nevera has set a new Nürburgring lap record for a production electric car, completing a full lap of the 12.8 mile circuit in a time of 7 minutes and 5 seconds. This achievement showcases the advancements in electric car development, proving that EVs can handle the challenges of 'The Green Hell' and any other situation.

Driven by Croatian racing driver Martin Kodrik, the Nevera broke the previous record for a production EV by 20 seconds, surpassing the time set by the Tesla Model S Track Pack.

The Nürburgring circuit presents a unique challenge for car manufacturers, allowing them to gain valuable insights into the performance of their vehicles. It serves as an accolade for manufacturers, who spend years refining their machines to be the fastest on the track.

There are different categories for record laps at the Nürburgring, and each category has its fastest lap times. These laps are a testament to the capabilities of various types of cars.

It's important to note that the official length of the lap was increased in 2019, including the full 12.944 miles of the circuit. This change impacted the timing of previous records, as the shorter circuit did not include a stretch of the T13 straight at the end of the lap.

In addition to the Rimac Nevera, another car that recently set a new lap record at the Nürburgring is the Mercedes-AMG One. This hypercar achieved a time of 6 minutes and 35.183 seconds, surpassing the previous record by almost 10 seconds. The Mercedes-AMG One is known as a Formula 1 car for the road, combining a modified version of the firm's turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 grand prix engine with four electric motors.

Another notable record-breaking car is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which completed a lap of the Nürburgring in 6 minutes and 43.30 seconds. This achievement, guided by Porsche works driver Lars Kern, broke the previous record by 4.747 seconds, with an average speed of 115.5mph.
