GeniePoint reduces electric vehicle charging fees in Zap-Pay campaign.

EV drivers using the GeniePoint network via Zap-Pay will enjoy discounted charging rates for the first two weeks of September as part of a new promotion. This joint initiative marks the introduction of GeniePoint's GenieFlex pricing tariff on Zap-Pay and is exclusively available to Zap-Pay users when charging on the GeniePoint network. Additionally, it coincides with World EV Day on September 9th.

GenieFlex offers customers access to lower charging rates during off-peak times when charge points are less likely to be in use. Specifically, off-peak times are defined as between 20:00 and 07:59. The current GenieFlex price tariff is 75p per kWh for off-peak charging and 79p per kWh during peak times. However, as part of this exclusive offer, Zap-Pay users will benefit from a reduced tariff of 65p per kWh during off-peak times and 69p per kWh during peak times. On average, drivers could save approximately £3 per charge session.

Matt Lloyd, CPO manager at Zapmap, expressed his excitement about this discount, stating that Zap-Pay is a convenient way to pay for charging across networks through the Zapmap app. He emphasized the importance of cost considerations for drivers, whether they are on long journeys or simply topping up at their destination. Lloyd commended Zap-Pay for amplifying the benefits of the GenieFlex price tariff and supporting EV drivers without access to a home charger.

Dee Humphries, director at GeniePoint owner Equans EV Solutions, highlighted their commitment to making EV charging more accessible and convenient. She expressed her satisfaction with the exclusive charging discount offered to EV drivers who use Zap-Pay. Humphries also mentioned that the offer was launched to celebrate World EV Day and to show gratitude to those who have transitioned to EVs, supporting a sustainable future.
