【Summary】GM's EV joint venture, Ultium LLC, is reportedly negotiating a wage increase for workers at its Ohio battery plant. The deal would provide an interim pay raise and raise the starting wage from $15.50 to over $20 per hour, with back pay for experienced employees. Negotiations are ongoing between Ultium and the United Auto Workers (UAW) for the plant's first contract.
Ultium LLC, the electric-vehicle joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution, is currently in discussions to increase wages at its Ohio battery plant, according to sources familiar with the matter as reported by Bloomberg.
The negotiations aim to provide workers with an interim pay raise while the management and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union negotiate the plant's initial contract. If the deal is finalized, the starting wage at the plant would increase from $15.50 per hour to over $20, and employees with tenure would also receive back pay.
When approached for comment, a spokesperson for Ultium declined to provide any information.
Ultium and the UAW have been actively engaged in negotiations to establish a labor agreement for the Ohio battery plant. The workers at the plant voted in favor of joining the UAW in December, and both parties are working towards finalizing the details of the contract.
