Hardcore Toyota GR Hilux to Challenge Ford Ranger Raptor in 2024
【Summary】Toyota is planning to release a more hardcore version of the Hilux in 2024 to compete with the Ford Ranger Raptor. The upcoming model will feature performance upgrades and a mild-hybrid system. This will be the fourth major update for the Hilux since October last year.
Toyota has recently launched the first Hilux GR Sport in Australia, a powerful variant of their well-known truck. This version comes with performance enhancements that make the truck even more formidable. However, it falls short of being a direct competitor to the Ford Ranger Raptor.
But fear not, as Toyota has more in store for the Hilux lineup. According to Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia's vice president of sales, there is another version of the Hilux scheduled to be released next year. In an interview with CarExpert, Hanley confirmed the arrival of a mild-hybrid Hilux and hinted at an additional surprise.
Hanley stated, "The introduction of the 48-volt battery will mark the third major update for the Hilux since October last year. And we are excited to announce that we have at least one more unexpected Hilux variant planned for next year."
