Munro Vehicles unveils their first-ever all-electric 4x4

Munro Vehicles has announced the production of their first all-electric 4x4, marking the first light vehicle to be manufactured in Scotland in over four decades. The company's East Kilbride headquarters has hand-built the first two Munro MK_1 customer vehicles, which are founder editions designed with clean-sheet principles and engineered to last for 50 years.

The first vehicle is a black truck, equipped with 220kW of power and 600Nm of torque. It offers an estimated range of 190 miles and a braked towing weight of 2.5 tonnes. On the other hand, the second vehicle is a pick-up built for ultimate performance, featuring a 280kW battery, a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes, and an estimated range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 is an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive vehicle that combines a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with a state-of-the-art electric powertrain, ensuring zero tailpipe emissions. Its spacious rear bed can carry a 1050kg Euro pallet payload, while the performance model boasts a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it suitable for various purposes such as hauling farm implements, livestock, construction equipment, and disaster relief supplies.

With a peak power output of 375kW and 700Nm of torque, the Munro MK_1 can accelerate to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds. It comes in utility, performance, and range variants, catering to different needs. Equipped with an 82.4kWh battery, the vehicle can rapidly recharge from 15% to 80% battery capacity in 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. A fully charged battery provides a range of over 190 miles, enabling up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.

Munro has already received over 250 pre-orders for both the truck and pick-up models. The company is targeting sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense. Munro CEO and co-founder Russell Peterson expressed pride in sharing the engineering and passion behind these incredible all-terrain electric vehicles.
