New Tesla Model 3 Revealed

The Tesla Model 3, which has been on sale for six years, is set to receive a comprehensive refresh with the new Project Highland update. The front fascia has been redesigned with a smoother and cleaner look, removing the small fog light pods and featuring sleeker headlights with integrated daytime running lights. Changes can also be seen at the rear, with a diffuser-like arrangement cutting into the bumper and updated rear tails with a modern claw-like design.

In addition to the visible changes, the update will bring broader changes to the model's fundamentals. The goal is to reduce component counts for cost savings while refreshing the car's external and interior appearance. Updated range figures for the rear-wheel-drive Model 3 show an improvement of approximately 12 percent, with the standard model achieving 344 miles and the Long Range model reaching an impressive 421 miles.

Inside the Model 3, the interior features new fabric materials and aluminum, along with a fresh ambient lighting system. Tesla has also improved the cabin's acoustics with new acoustic glass and soundproofing materials. Other interior changes include a new 8-inch rear display screen, new steering-mounted controls, and slimmer bezels on the main 15.4-inch infotainment screen.

Reports suggest that the Project Highland update will first go into production at Gigafactory Shanghai, with manufacturing potentially already underway. Tesla's Fremont, California plant will also produce the new facelift models. Deliveries are expected to begin in October for Europe and the Middle East, while availability for the U.S. market has yet to be announced.

A refresh for the Model 3 is necessary to keep up with the increasing competition in the EV sedan market. Tesla aims to maintain strong sales by combining the update with its aggressive pricing strategy.
