Ruf CTR 3 Evo tuner's record-breaking release
【Summary】German manufacturer Ruf has unveiled its most powerful car yet, the CTR 3 Evo. The car features a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat six engine producing 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. It is made from a lightweight Kevlar-composite body and has upgraded suspension, brakes, and a dry-sump lubrication system. The exact top speed and 0-62mph time are not known yet, but it will be faster than the previous model.
German manufacturer and Porsche tuning specialist Ruf has recently introduced its most powerful car yet, the CTR 3 Evo. Unveiled at Monterey Car Week, this vehicle is a completely redesigned and heavily upgraded version, based on the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport, but separate from it.
Under the hood, the CTR 3 Evo is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat six engine, capable of producing an impressive 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. This is 23bhp and 8lb ft more than its Clubsport counterpart. The maximum power is achieved at 7100rpm, while the maximum torque is deployed at 4000rpm.
The car showcased in the pictures is fitted with Ruf's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, since the Clubsport can also be equipped with a six-speed manual, it is possible that the Evo may also offer this option.
When it comes to the body, Ruf has used a Kevlar-composite material, similar to the one used in the Koenigsegg Agera RS. This material is known for its lightweight properties, strength, and heat resistance.
While the top speed and 0-62mph time of the CTR 3 Evo are not yet known, it is expected to be faster than the Clubsport, which can reach a top speed of 236mph and accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.
In addition to engine tuning, Ruf has made several upgrades to the CTR 3 Evo. These include modifications to the MacPherson-strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. The car also features carbon-ceramic brakes and a track-ready dry-sump lubrication system, similar to those used in the Ferrari 488 GTB and Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Inside the CTR 3 Evo, you will find one-piece body-hugging sports seats made from carbon fiber and upholstered in Alcantara, with contrasting yellow stitching.
Customers interested in the CTR 3 Evo will be able to order it at a cost of over $725,000 (£570,466). This makes it more expensive than the similarly positioned Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 and the similarly powerful Ferrari SF90.
