Tesla has been conducting extensive testing of its upcoming steel-bodied Cybertruck over the past two months. Some of this testing has taken place in New Zealand, which is a popular location for winter testing.

Recent sightings indicate that the testing efforts have intensified, with up to five Cybertrucks spotted at the test site. This is a significant increase compared to the previous sightings, where only two Cybertrucks with unique camouflage wraps were seen.

These sightings were made possible by pictures shared on Twitter by a Kiwi Cybertruck enthusiast known as CybertruckNZ. One of the pictures shows three steel-bodied Cybertrucks parked next to a shed, with the tailgate of the Cybertruck on the far right labeled as "Cybr-ute."

In other pictures, camouflaged test units were also observed, bringing the total count to at least five units on site. All of them had the triangular rear side mirrors, which are expected to be part of the production version of the Cybertruck.

Fans of the Cybertruck found the increase in the number of vehicles quite amusing, with one saying, "They've been sneaking them in."

To provide a timeline of the Cybertruck sightings in New Zealand, the first Cybertruck with a large frunk opening was seen at the winter test site in June. This particular unit was delivered to the site in a covered trailer.

Additionally, new photos were shared showing the frunk of a Cybertruck being opened, revealing some of its internal components. While the exact nature of these components is unclear, it does demonstrate that the frunk extends across a significant portion of the Cybertruck's width.

The size of the Cybertruck makes the other vehicles parked closer to the camera appear much smaller.

The winter testing for Tesla vehicles takes place at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds (SHPG) in the South Island. This testing is happening just before the Cybertruck is scheduled to enter full production later this quarter.

With the first customer delivery event for the Cybertruck expected to take place in a few weeks, the large number of vehicles undergoing winter testing indicates Tesla's commitment to ensuring the vehicle can perform in all terrains.

This level of testing provides reassurance to the hundreds of thousands of reservation holders who will be eagerly putting the Cybertruck to the test once it hits the road in the coming years.
