The Tesla Model 3 has undergone a facelift for the 2024 model year, marking the biggest change in six years and 2 million units sold. The updated electric car is now available in the UK, starting at £39,990, with deliveries set to begin in January 2024. The Model 3 has become a popular choice among UK drivers, often ranking as the best-selling car overall in certain months. This success aligns with Elon Musk's goal of making electric vehicles more accessible to the masses. The 2024 model year brings revised front and rear lamps, as well as various interior upgrades.

The UK and Ireland will receive two models in 2024: the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive. The Performance models are not currently available, but may be introduced later. Prices for the new models start at £39,990 and go up to £49,990 for the Long Range variant with the longest range. Two additional colors, Ultra Red and Stealth Grey, will be added to the lineup.

The updated specifications for the Model 3 include improved range across the board, while the speed remains unchanged. This increase in range can be attributed to the car's enhanced aerodynamic efficiency. The absence of the Highland-spec Performance trim is notable, but it may be introduced in the future.

The interior of the Model 3 has received significant improvements, addressing areas where the car was starting to show its age compared to competitors. Premium materials have been introduced, and the front seats now feature ventilation and all seats are heated as standard. The centre console, known for its impressive display, now has thinner bezels, providing more usable screen area. The console is covered in aluminum and offers improved storage, dual wireless phone chargers, and USB-C ports. Ambient lighting has also been added, along with an 8-inch screen for rear passengers to access entertainment and other features.

The Model 3's audio system has been upgraded, with Long Range vehicles receiving 17 speakers, dual subwoofers, and twin amplifiers. The infotainment system supports popular music streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal. Tesla has also made improvements to the car's microphones for better hands-free calls. Notably, the Model 3 does not have a traditional key and instead relies on a smartphone or a credit-card-sized fob to unlock and start the car.

In terms of charging, Tesla recently updated Model 3s with larger batteries to support faster charging at up to 200kW. This means that cars with the top battery can potentially gain 850 miles of range in just one hour, provided they have access to a fast enough charger. Tesla recommends using European ultra-fast charging networks such as Ionity, Fastned, and Allego for optimal charging.

Overall, the 2024 facelift of the Tesla Model 3 focuses on enhancing everyday usability and making incremental improvements rather than introducing revolutionary changes. The updated model aims to continue Tesla's mission of making electric vehicles more accessible and appealing to a wider audience.
