Totem GT Super: Alfa 105-series comeback boasts 740bhp supercharged V6
【Summary】Italian firm Totem has unveiled its rendition of a 105 coupe called the Totem GT, which features a bespoke, wide-body carbon fibre exterior. The V6-engined model, called the Totem GT Super, boasts a 2.8-litre twin-turbo engine with 740bhp and 627lb ft of torque, making it a powerful contender in the realm of supercars.
105-series Alfa Romeos are known for their beautiful styling and well-engineered features, making them the perfect starting point for classic Italian restomods. Alfaholics has already demonstrated this with their impressive GTA-R model. However, potential customers may be disappointed to learn that the order books for the GTA-R are full for the next nine years. This opens up an opportunity for a new player in the market: Totem. The Italian firm has created their own version of a 105 coupe called the Totem GT, which will be making its debut in the UK at Salon Privé later this month.
The Totem GT was initially announced as an all-electric modernized classic in 2020. However, it has since evolved to include a petrol-powered V6 model that shares the same design language and chassis. The car features a bespoke wide-body carbon fiber exterior, with very few components carried over from the original car. Totem takes the bulkhead of an original Alfa GT Junior and combines it with a new carbon fiber chassis and steel subframes at the front and rear. The suspension setup includes billet aluminum double wishbones, resulting in a much more advanced layout compared to the GT Junior's unibody chassis and solid rear axle design.
The V6-engined model is known as the Totem GT Super. It is equipped with a custom dry-sumped 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces an impressive 592 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The engine has a rev limit of 7500rpm and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox mounted at the rear axle. For those seeking even more power, Totem offers a stage 2 performance package that includes a supercharger and a higher 8500rpm rev limit. With this upgrade, the engine can produce a staggering 740 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. While exact performance figures have not been announced, it is expected that the GT Super, weighing only 1180kg, will rival supercars in terms of speed and acceleration.
