Toyota Supra manual 2023 review

When it comes to the Toyota Supra, a turbo straight six is a must-have. Although it may not match the power and flexibility of a BMW Motorsport six-cylinder engine, the B58 engine seems to be a good fit for the Supra. In the few days that I've had the car, it feels fast, torquey, and revs well.

While the performance of the Supra is impressive, I'm equally interested in exploring its ride and handling. Toyota has made improvements to the adaptive dampers, power steering, and anti-roll bar bushes in the manual version of the car. In the past, we praised the Supra's touring ride but had concerns about its body control on rough roads and the driver's connection with the front wheels. I'm eager to see if these issues have been addressed.

However, what truly fascinates me is the process of getting to know the dynamic character of an analogue sports car. Few manufacturers offer classic, front-engined, rear-drive, three-pedal cars anymore. Spending weeks and months experimenting with drive mode settings and tire pressures to achieve the perfect driving experience is a rare opportunity for us road testers.

Ordering the GR Supra is a straightforward process. If you opt for the larger engine, you can choose between standard and Pro equipment specifications, as well as manual or automatic gearboxes. However, if you prefer a simpler and more affordable trim, the manual transmission is the only option.

So, that's what we have - a no-frills sports car with plenty of driving to do. We won't have full leather seats, a premium stereo, or adaptive cruise control, but we have more than enough equipment to enjoy our time with the Supra. Let the driving begin!
