Wrecked Lamborghini Countach Featured in Wolf of Wall Street Up for Sale
【Summary】The crashed Lamborghini Countach from "The Wolf of Wall Street" is now for sale. It was one of three used in the film, with the others being a hero car and a backup car. The car, which was smashed up for the movie, has been perfectly preserved and comes with memorabilia from the film. It is considered one of the most iconic movie cars despite its damaged condition.
The mystery of the Lamborghini from the film The Wolf of Wall Street has finally been solved. Contrary to popular belief, there were not just one, but three Countaches used during filming. One was the hero car, another served as a backup, and the third was intentionally smashed up for a specific scene. While the surviving Countach went up for auction earlier this year, the crashed car has only recently surfaced.
Bonhams, the renowned auction house, has put the iconic car on display and released a series of incredible photos. In the film, it is difficult to fully appreciate the extent of the damage inflicted on the Countach, but director Martin Scorsese went to great lengths to achieve the desired effect. According to the owner of the pristine car, Scorsese initially smashed it up using conventional methods, but he was not satisfied. The legend goes that he had the car crash into other objects to make the damage appear more realistic.
Undoubtedly, one of the most memorable scenes in the movie features the Countach. Leonardo DiCaprio's character, Jordan Belfort, attempts to drive home while under the influence of quaaludes. The sequence shows DiCaprio crawling towards the Lamborghini, struggling to get into the driver's seat, and miraculously managing to drive one mile. Unfortunately, the car is completely destroyed during this short journey.
Since the completion of the film, the smashed-up Lamborghini has been meticulously preserved in its post-crash condition. Every dent and scratch was intentionally created by Scorsese's crew. Despite its damaged state, the car has become one of the most iconic movie cars of all time. It even comes with various pieces of memorabilia from the film, such as a director's chair and clapboard signed by DiCaprio, Scorsese, and Margot Robbie. Additionally, it includes a crew sweater and a Jordan Belfort costume. However, it is worth noting that no quaaludes are included with the car.
