Wrecked Lamborghini Countach from "Wolf of Wall Street" Up for Sale

The mystery surrounding the Lamborghini from the movie The Wolf of Wall Street has finally been solved. Contrary to popular belief, there were actually three Countaches used during the filming process. One was the hero car, another served as a backup, and the third was intentionally smashed up for the film's purposes. While the surviving Countach was auctioned off earlier this year, the crashed car has only now resurfaced.

Bonhams, an auction house, recently showcased the iconic car through a series of incredible photos. In the film, it is difficult to fully grasp the extent of the damage inflicted upon the Countach, but director Martin Scorsese certainly did a number on it. According to the owner of the pristine car, Scorsese initially had the Countach smashed up using typical methods, but he was not satisfied. Legend has it that the car was then crashed into other objects to achieve a more convincing appearance.

Undoubtedly, one of the most memorable scenes in the movie features the Countach. Leonardo DiCaprio's character, Jordan Belfort, attempts to drive home while heavily under the influence of quaaludes. The scene unfolds with DiCaprio crawling towards the Lamborghini, barely managing to hoist himself into the driver's seat, and miraculously driving one mile home. Unfortunately, within that short distance, the car is completely destroyed.

Since the completion of the film, the car has been perfectly preserved in its as-seen condition. Every dent and scratch was intentionally created by Scorsese's crew. Despite being a smashed-up Lambo, it has become one of the most iconic movie cars of all time. The car also comes with various pieces of memorabilia from the film, such as a director's chair and clapboard signed by DiCaprio, Scorsese, and Margot Robbie, as well as a crew sweater and a Jordan Belfort costume. However, it's worth noting that no quaaludes are included.
