2024 Fiat Panda: updated information
【Summary】Fiat is rumored to be launching an all-new Panda model in mid-2024, potentially with both petrol and electric powertrains. The car is expected to have a minimalistic design and focus on affordability, aiming to compete with budget-friendly rivals like Dacia. Fiat CEO Olivier Francois has mentioned the possibility of taking design cues from the Panda and bringing back the Italian flair associated with Fiat cars. The upcoming models from Fiat will be between 3.6 and 4.
Fiat is set to make a comeback with the release of a new Fiat Panda, potentially arriving in mid-2024. The Italian brand has recently unveiled new models, including the retro-inspired 600e electric crossover and the Topolino quadricycle. Our exclusive renders provide a glimpse of what the new Fiat Panda could look like.
On its 125th birthday, on July 11, 2024, Fiat plans to unveil more affordable cars to compete with budget-friendly rivals such as Dacia, Hyundai's i10, and Kia's Picanto city cars. Fiat has hinted that its latest model could be inspired by the Panda and the minimalistic Centoventi concept car from 2019. It is possible that the new Fiat Panda could be an electric vehicle (EV) to rival Dacia's affordable Spring EV.
The Fiat Panda has traditionally been a small, affordable, and practical version of the Fiat 500. It could potentially make a comeback as an EV, but petrol versions could also be available, using the 1.2-litre PureTech engine found in other Peugeot and Citroen cars.
Fiat has not confirmed whether other iconic small Fiat models, such as the Punto, Tipo, and Uno, will return. However, the brand has stated that its upcoming models will be between 3.6 and 4.5 meters long. Fiat aims to differentiate itself from Dacia by offering the extra Italian flair associated with its cars. Fiat CEO Olivier Francois expressed the brand's focus on simplicity, joy, and a touch of nostalgia, stating that a simple car made by Italians is a joy, while a simple car made by anyone else is a punishment.
Since becoming part of the Stellantis Group, which includes brands like Peugeot, Citroen, and Vauxhall, Fiat has access to a wider range of platforms and parts, allowing for cost-effective production. While features like swappable batteries from the Centoventi Concept are unlikely to be included, simplicity will be a key aspect of the new Fiat Panda.
