2024 Subaru WRX TR Unveiling on October 7
【Summary】Subaru will be revealing a new WRX variant called WRX TR at the Subiefest event on October 7. Unlike the previous TR version in 2006, this one is said to be "enthusiast-focused" and may not be as basic or inexpensive. The teaser image shows Brembo brakes and side skirts. The pricing details are not yet available.
Subaru has confirmed that a new variant of the WRX is on its way, but unfortunately, it will not be the highly anticipated STI model. Instead, Subaru is teasing an "enthusiast-focused" WRX TR, which takes inspiration from the 2006 "Tuner Ready" version.
The official full reveal of the new WRX TR is scheduled to take place at Subaru's Subiefest event at the Daytona International Speedway on October 7.
Subaru recently gave us a glimpse of the new "enthusiast-focused" WRX sedan, but it is not the STI variant that fans have been eagerly waiting for. Instead, Subaru is reviving the TR moniker, which was last used in 2006 to describe a version of the WRX that was tailored for aftermarket customization. This bare-bones variant came with basic features such as a cheap stereo, non-leather steering wheel, regular seats, and unpainted mirror caps.
Considering the evolution of Subaru's offerings, it is unlikely that the new WRX TR will be as basic as its predecessor. The teaser image reveals Brembo brakes behind the new wheels and also showcases a set of side skirts, hinting at a more performance-oriented version.
While there are still limited details available, it is expected that the new WRX TR will not be priced lower than the base WRX, which starts at $31,625. The range-topping GT trim of the 2023 WRX starts at $44,415. Whether Subaru will embrace the no-frills approach of the previous TR remains to be seen.
Car enthusiasts and Subaru fans can look forward to the full reveal of the new WRX TR at Subaru's Subiefest event in Daytona Beach, Florida, on October 7. Stay tuned for more updates!
