Electric Honda supercar teased

Honda, through its premium American-market sister brand Acura, has provided a closer look at the upcoming electric successor to the NSX supercar. The company has released new images that hint at a new design language for this Acura-badged concept. These images give us an insight into what we can expect when the road car eventually makes its debut.

While there is very little technical information available about the model, we do know that it will be one of two electric sports cars currently in development. Honda's previous flagship, the second-generation NSX, was one of the first mid-engined supercars to incorporate hybrid power. With its turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain, it produced over 570bhp. It is expected that this level of technical innovation will continue with the third generation of Honda's supercar.

Honda's President, Toshihiro Mibe, recently revealed plans for a successor to the NSX during a video presentation. The presentation outlined significant investments in a wider range of electric car projects. One of these projects includes a new joint venture with General Motors, focused on developing EVs for the American market. Mibe spoke about the launch of two sports models to the global market, one being a specialty model and the other a flagship model. These models will embody Honda's universal sporting mindset and distinct characteristics, and the company will work persistently to meet expectations.
