Introducing the Motocompacto, the electric version of the beloved Honda Motocompo from the 80s. This compact scooter is designed to fit in the boot of a hatchback, just like its predecessor. Measuring only 29 inches in length and 21 inches in height when folded, it's no wonder that this scooter gained popularity during its short stint on the Japanese automotive production lines.

The 21st-century version of the Motocompacto maintains the lightweight frame of its predecessor, weighing in at 41 pounds, which is the same class as regular bikes. However, its small and compact form factor does come with some limitations. It has a range of only 12 miles on a single charge of 3.5 hours. On the bright side, it features a charger-ready 110V outlet, allowing you to easily plug it into any household outlet.

The Motocompacto is designed to be taken along in your car's boot and used for short trips. Its front-wheel drive motor delivers 490W, making it capable of climbing hills. While its top speed of 15-18 mph may not be the fastest among electric scooters, it still serves its purpose. The dashboard includes two power levels, a digital speedometer, and battery level indicators.

Nick Ziraldo, the project lead and design engineering unit leader at Honda Development and Manufacturing of America, emphasizes the Motocompacto's focus on safety, durability, and security. It features a robust heat-treated aluminum frame and wheels, a bright LED headlight and taillight, side reflectors, and a welded steel lock loop on the kickstand that is compatible with most bike locks.

The Motocompacto is expected to be priced around $995 and will be available in November. Interested buyers can place their order online or purchase it through Honda or Acura dealerships.
