Lamborghini's debut electric vehicle: the Lanzador GT concept

The long-awaited electric Lamborghini has finally arrived, marking a significant milestone for the supercar firm. After five years since the introduction of the game-changing Urus SUV, Lamborghini is once again venturing into a new segment with the unveiling of the Lanzador, a striking four-seat GT.

Originally showcased as a concept during Monterey Car Week in California, the Lanzador is set to be launched in five years. This sleek two-row supercar has a similar size to the Porsche Taycan but sits higher from the ground, aiming to offer enhanced versatility.

The Lanzador has been designed as a bridge between the Urus and Lamborghini's line-up of traditional mid-engined supercars. It represents a concrete vision of the company's next model line, staying true to Lamborghini's DNA by providing best-in-class sportiness and a fun-to-drive character.

This new model is not just a show car, but rather a "laboratory on wheels" that showcases the production intent of its technology and manufacturing methods.

The confirmation of an electric Lamborghini came in 2021 when CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed discussions about the car's body style and positioning. However, speculation about Lamborghini's first EV has been circulating since 2017, when the futuristic Terzo Millennio hypercar hinted at the brand's zero-emission future.

The Lanzador sheds light on what Lamborghini's electric future will look and sound like. When asked why the new model is being showcased five years before its release, Winkelmann explained that it is a strategic move to prepare the market and allow time for opinions and the development of a distinctive character for Lamborghini's EVs.
