Skoda Kodiaq interior updates and prototype insights

The all-new Skoda Kodiaq is set to be unveiled later this year, and the Czech brand has released images of its redesigned interior and new features. The interior of the Kodiaq has a striking new look, with a relocated gear selector that creates more space for a spacious center console. It also features a large 13-inch infotainment screen with Skoda's new Smart Dials, which allow users to toggle between different functions and adjust them with the same knob.

The upcoming second-generation Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be slightly larger than the outgoing model, with a larger boot capacity of 910 liters. The design of the new Kodiaq takes an evolutionary approach, combining existing design cues from the Skoda range with elements of the brand's upcoming electric vehicles. The powertrain options for the new Kodiaq will include a plug-in hybrid variant, as well as mild-hybrid, diesel, and petrol models.

The interior of the new Kodiaq features a large, chunky dashboard and a more angular design. Skoda is using sustainable materials in the interior, including 100% recycled polyester and eco leather. The gear selector has been relocated to the steering column to create more storage space on the center console. Skoda's Smart Dials, which are innovative physical knobs, allow users to toggle through and adjust various settings with the same button.

The new Kodiaq will come with a variety of safety features, including Emergency Assist, Traffic Assist, and lane departure control. It will also have remote parking assist, allowing users to control the car remotely to park it in tight spaces. Skoda plans to reveal the new Kodiaq in autumn 2023, alongside an all-new Skoda Superb. While the pricing for the new Kodiaq is expected to be higher than the outgoing model, Skoda aims to provide good value for money compared to competitors.

Recently, a prototype of the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq was driven, giving an idea of how the SUV performs. The prototype was camouflaged and featured front-wheel drive mild-hybrid petrol and diesel versions. Skoda expects the majority of sales for the Kodiaq to be the 1.5-litre petrol model. The driving experience of the prototype was similar to the outgoing model, with a capable engine and smooth gearbox.
