Tesla Reveals Redesigned Model 3 Sedan at Beijing Expo
【Summary】Tesla unveiled its revamped Model 3 sedan at a trade fair in Beijing. This marks the first time the automaker has launched a vehicle in China before the United States. The car will also be showcased at the Munich auto show and exported to other markets. It features new upgrades, including a rear display for back-seat passengers. Visitors were impressed with the audio system and rear display, but some were not convinced to place an order due to the competition from other electric vehicles.
The launch of the new Model 3 version in China ahead of the United States is a significant milestone for Tesla. The company unveiled the locally-made sedan at a trade fair in Beijing, showcasing its range of new features. This improved model will also be launched at the Munich auto show and in other countries.
Tesla's founder, Elon Musk, stated that the Model 3 represents some of the first changes to its mass-market car lineup since the successful launch of the Model Y in 2020. This launch in China also highlights the automaker's growing reliance on the country, where it is competing with BYD for market share.
The Model 3 is being produced at Tesla's Shanghai plant and will be exported to various Asian, European, and Middle Eastern markets. Some of its new features, such as a rear display for back-seat passengers, seem to cater to the preferences of Chinese buyers.
At the trade fair, Tesla sales staff engaged with interested buyers, providing them with information about the car's debut. One university student named Guo expressed his interest in the upgrades to the car's audio system and the rear display, which would help alleviate boredom for passengers in the back seat.
However, not all visitors to the Tesla booth were convinced enough to place an order. Hu, who attended the fair, mentioned that there was no special reason for her to buy a Tesla as there are many new energy vehicles available in the market.
In addition to the trade fair in Beijing, Tesla has also announced its plans to showcase the new Model 3 at the upcoming Munich auto show.
