Tesla's Nationwide Free Charging for Electric Vehicles

Tesla is celebrating the anniversary of its Supercharger stations in Europe by offering free charging for all electric vehicles today. This initiative marks 10 years since the opening of the first Supercharger station on the continent.

On August 29th, all EV owners, regardless of the brand, can charge their cars for free from 8am until the end of the day. However, it's important to note that the latest time to start charging is 10.59pm.

The first Supercharger station in Europe was opened in Norway on August 29th, 2013. Since then, the network has expanded across 36 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with over a thousand sites and 13,000 individual Superchargers.

Tesla claims that its Supercharger network is the largest ultra-fast charging network in Europe, with more than 9,200 Superchargers and 660 stations that accept all EVs. The company sees the free charging initiative as part of its 'electric summer' celebrations and a way to show appreciation to the Tesla community for contributing to the growth and reliability of the Supercharger network.

This one-day-only offer allows drivers of all electric cars to experience the benefits of the rapid charging network. Over 70% of the network is now open to all EVs, providing a significant expansion of charging options. Recently, Tesla launched its latest V4 Supercharger in the UK, which is compatible with all electric vehicles featuring CCS compatibility.

The first V4 Supercharger is located at the Tesla Centre Tottenham and features a three-meter charging cable and a contactless card payment terminal. Tesla designed these V4 Superchargers specifically to allow non-Tesla owners to access the high speeds and reliability of the Supercharger network.

James Court, CEO of the Electric Vehicles Association, expressed excitement about the rollout of the new V4 Superchargers and the increasing accessibility of existing sites to all electric vehicles in the UK. He believes that the widespread coverage and reliability of the Supercharger network will greatly benefit all EV drivers.

Decarbonisation Minister Jesse Norman commended Tesla for investing in EV charging infrastructure that benefits all EV drivers. He stated that the UK government is committed to making electric vehicles more accessible and has recently introduced regulations to improve the ease of charging. Private investments like Tesla's will play a crucial role in driving the transition to a prosperous green economy.
