Toyota Battle: Prius vs. Corolla

When it comes to choosing between the 2023 Toyota Prius and Toyota Corolla, the decision has become more challenging. This is because the Corolla now offers a variety of configurations, including sedan, hatchback, hybrid, and high-performance GR hatchback options. Additionally, there are also the Corolla Cross and Corolla Cross Hybrid, which are Corolla-based vehicles with some crossover-inspired design elements.

On the other hand, the new Toyota Prius is more straightforward. It recently debuted its fifth generation in 2022 and is available with a gasoline-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Prius also boasts a stylish body shell, making it the most visually appealing Prius in its lineage. For the purpose of comparison, we will focus on the Prius hybrid and the Toyota Corolla sedan, with a brief mention of the hybrid Corolla sedan.

One important factor to consider is the price. The new Toyota Prius starts at around $28,700, which is significantly higher than the sub-$23,000 base price of a Corolla sedan. The Corolla Hybrid, on the other hand, starts above $24,000 and reaches just under $28,000 for the top-of-the-line XLE trim. This puts it just a few hundred dollars below the base price of the Toyota Prius.
