The all-new Porsche Cayenne has arrived in the UK, boasting a larger and more efficient design than its predecessor. Despite a 4cm longer wheelbase, the new Cayenne appears smaller due to its taut body and sharper front end. As Porsche's best-selling SUV, the Cayenne generates significant revenue for the company, allowing for limited-run specials like the GT2 RS.

While the Cayenne Turbo may seem expensive and unnecessary to many buyers, a closer look reveals the extraordinary achievements of this car. In addition to offering the benefits of a full-size 4x4, such as a supple ride, elevated seating position, and ample space, the Turbo model is as fast as a 911 Carrera 4S in a straight line and nearly as quick through corners. Despite weighing 2.1 tonnes, the Turbo boasts a 185kg weight saving compared to its predecessor and a 31% increase in fuel economy, thanks to stop-start technology. The styling overhaul inside and out adds to the overall appeal of the Cayenne Turbo.

Inside the Cayenne, drivers are greeted with a Panamera-style rising centre console, creating a cockpit-like experience. The build quality is exceptional, with sturdy metal and stitched leather covering most surfaces. As part of Porsche's Intelligent Performance mantra, the new Cayenne is 185kg lighter and features standard stop-start technology on models equipped with the eight-speed Tiptronic auto. These improvements result in a 31% increase in fuel economy and a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions.

Under the hood, the 4.8-litre twin-turbo engine remains a powerful force, delivering 493bhp and propelling the SUV from 0-62mph in just 4.7 seconds. The Cayenne's composed and precise driving experience is enhanced by its laser-like steering, responsive handling, and optional carbon ceramic discs for exceptional braking performance. With Porsche's Dynamic Chassis control, three-mode PASM suspension, and Torque Vectoring Plus, the Cayenne corners flatter and faster than any of its rivals. It truly feels like a sports car on stilts.

While the Range Rover still reigns supreme in terms of luxury and comfort, the top-of-the-range 510bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 model cannot match the Cayenne Turbo's performance. However, the Range Rover excels in off-road capabilities, making it unbeatable in challenging terrains.
