Ford's European Camper Van: A Potential Transit Custom Nugget

Ford of Europe is teasing a new camper van that is set to be unveiled on August 24. The company promises that this model will make outdoor trips an experience of a lifetime, embracing the popular "VanLife" trend.

The teaser videos show glimpses of the exterior, revealing a sliding side window and a pop-up roof equipped with a solar panel. When the roof is raised, there is enough room to stand inside the van.

Inside, the van features classy counters, a refrigerated drawer, zippered window coverings, and a rear touchscreen display for adjusting the color-changing lighting system. There is also a sink and what appears to be an external shower head or washer.

While Ford has not provided many details, it is speculated that this camper van could be the redesigned Transit Custom Nugget. The timing aligns with the introduction of the redesigned van last September, and the rear quarter glass indicates that it is based on the Transit Custom. The camper van variant is expected to debut at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon.

The Transit Custom is available with various powertrain options, including EcoBlue diesels with outputs ranging from 108 hp to 168 hp. There are also plug-in hybrid and electric variants available.
